Hip-Hop Jazz Musicology at Harcum College

CODA Program's signature workshop has graduated! Hip-hop Jazz Musicology, an interactive experience that traditionally has been taken to primary schools, libraries, and museums, recently had its college debut with a diverse crowd of various ages and backgrounds. The discussion on historical events, various styles of music, and the lasting traditions that have influenced Hip-hop music had a boost of lively conversation, intellectual insight, and even some debate. Students, administrators, and professors alike participated in a live blues improvisation, a traditional black church experience, and a Hip-hop party... all within an hour. At the end, the crowd expressed having been able to really connect musical dots within the American music experience.
