Nathan Jones

“It’s all about the journey…” A simple phrase but powerful in its meaning and practice. With full respect and appreciation for the journey, Nathan Jones is a jack of a few different trades. As a Prince George’s County Maryland native, Nathan began his training in music and technology at a very young age, paving the way for all his future endeavors.

Nathan first began piano lessons in elementary school; an early training that led to further instruction, both formal and self-taught, in voice, bass, drums, music production, and music engineering. Computers also became an early interest, from software and web coding to networking and technical support. This particular interest guided him to complete a degree in Information Systems and Technology from Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

While attending Drexel University, Nathan’s interest in entrepreneurship was planted. As a college Junior, along with two partners, he founded an Internet Development company that would ultimately foster important business skills while solidify his entrepreneurial passion. Following his heart however, attention returned to his true direction in life: music

Performing with a variety of local groups, bands, and at open mics throughout the Philadelphia and DC-Metropolitan area, Nathan Jones has always recognized the need for creative, but well-organized music projects. In the Spring of 2004, he founded Peace of Music, LLC, a music production company with the aim of creating opportunities for artists through strategic project management, production and recording. The need ran deeper however, and the necessity to directly affect youth in the area became apparent. Hoping to inspire and give options to students in the same way he was fortunate growing up, the CODA Program was born.

Co-founded along with Ali Richardson, a local musician and friend, the CODA (Community Outreach, Development, and Achievement) Program has brought quality youth music workshops and educational solutions to thousands of students at schools, museums, libraries, and community centers throughout the East Coast for over four years.

In addition to his primary occupation as Director of Business Operations for the CODA Program, Nathan has embarked upon several projects including developing The Souls of Poor Folk (a multi-part multimedia series to increase dialogue around poverty and homelessness); creating several musical production projects; serving as a keyboardist and vocalist in the Aaron Mingo and the AskForMercy Orchestra; and investing in Real Estate. Nathan is also a husband and proud father. The journey continues…
